FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO CAN HOST A SCREENING?
WILL SOMEONE FROM REEL ROCK COME TO HELP ME HOST?
We do not travel to the locally-hosted screenings. Reel Rock show hosts are completely in charge of putting on a great event, including finding a venue, ticket sales and promotion.
DOES IT COST MONEY?
Yes. We charge a license fee to screen the REEL ROCK programme. The fee varies depending on the venue size and other factors - and is designed to reward the film makers and therefore support the production of independent films. You get to keep all the ticket revenue - we want the event to be a success for you and we don’t ask for any box office split.
WHERE CAN I SCREEN REEL ROCK?
REEL ROCK screenings can be held in a number of places such as climbing gyms, local theatres, school auditoriums, and cinemas.
WHEN CAN I HOST REEL ROCK?
You can host a screening any time after 28 October 2019 - the best time is during the Autumn/Winter season. We would encourage you to host your show during the UK and Ireland’s Reel Rock Premiere Week (28 October to 3 November), which will be supported by a widespread national launch campaign
WILL YOU PROVIDE ME WITH PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS TO HELP MAKE THIS A GREAT EVENT?
Yes. After you have signed a contract, we will share the electronic press kit, access to our poster files, logo, and high-resolution images, as well a digital download of the full REEL ROCK program once it’s completed and you have submitted the appropriate payment. We will also add your event to our website and facebook events page.
CAN I HOST AS A FUNDRAISER?
IS THE PROGRAMME FAMILY FRIENDLY?
The films may contain occasional adult language and themes. We are happy to provide you with a censored version of the films upon request.
HOW DO YOU SELL TICKETS?
There are lots of ticketing platforms you can use to sell tickets - or you may be able to sell tickets via an existing online store or at a climbing gym, retail store or similar. We can also help you out and set up the event ticketing for you if you would prefer.
ANY OTHER ADVICE?
Think about your community. What kind of turnout do you expect? If you are screening in a retail shop or climbing gym please make sure there is adequate seating-room for people so viewers can be comfortable – the program is usually about two hours long. What are your plans for projection? Our films look best screened off a computer; we will send you a download link to screen the film. What price of tickets will help you offset your cost, but also not deter people away?
